James was born on September 15 1921 in Vancouver as the son of James (Scottish) and Julia McWilliam (Welsh), of Vancouver.
He was a fisherman and member of the United Church.
He enlisted on November 16 1942 in Vancouver and he went on November 20 1944 overseas to the UK and he went thereafter on December 30 to NW Europe.
James was killed in action on Sunday February 18 1945 age 23 in the C Coy at the Moyland Wood during the battle of the Rhineland. And he was temporarily buried in Bedburg Hau Germany and then on September 19 1945 reburied in Groesbeek.
At his headstone: DEAR BROTHER AND SON, AS LONG AS LIFE AND MEMORY LAST WE WILL REMEMBER THEE

James was born on November 9 1912 in Meaford Ontario as the son of Mr.(first name unknown and deceased) and Margaret MacKellar of Owen Sound Ontario. He was married on December 5 1931 with Georgina MacKellar of Owen Sound.
He was a boat builder and member of the Church of England.
He enlisted on September 18 1939 in Walkerton Ontario and he went on November 22 1941 overseas to the UK and he went thereafter on September 7 1944 to France
James was killed in action on Monday February 19 1945 age 32 in the A Coy near the Moyland Wood during the battle of the Rhineland. And he was temporarily buried in Bedburg Hau Germany and he was then on September 19 1945 reburied in Groesbeek.
His medals were: 1939-45 Star; France Germany Star; Defence Medal; War Medal and CVSM & Clasp.
John was born on September 22 1909 in Glasgow Scotland as the son of Daniel and Lottie Emma McLellan. His parents were married on June 4 1909 in Glasgow. He was married on September 3 1940 in Stewart British Columbia with Beatrice Augusta McLellan, of Rossland, British Columbia. Their daughters were Mary Elizabeth and Ada Gwendoline McLellan. His father and two brothers still lived in Scotland.
He was a smelter man and member of the Christian Science (OD). He enjoyed swimming, soccer, hunting, shows, dancing and general reading.
He enlisted on January 10 1944 in Vancouver and he went on October 20 overseas to the UK and he went thereafter on November 18 to NW Europe.
John was killed in action on Tuesday February 20 1945 age 45 in the C Coy at the Moyland Wood during the battle of the Rhineland. And he was temporarily buried in Bedburg Hau Germany and he was then on September 20 1945 reburied in Groesbeek.

Joseph (Tom) was born on November 2 1922 in Perkins Mills Quebec as the son of Thomas and Hilda Maloney, of Perkins Mills.
He was a labourer and member of the Roman Catholic Church.
He enlisted on April 18 1944 in Montreal and he went on October 12 overseas to the UK and he went thereafter on November 11 to France.
Joseph was killed in action on Sunday February 18 1945 age 22 in the C Coy at the Moyland Wood during the battle of the Rhineland. And he was temporarily buried in Bedburg Hau Germany and he was then on September 12 1945 reburied in Groesbeek.
His medals were: 1939-45 Star; France Germany Star; War Medal; CVSM & Clasp.
Lawrence was born on July 15 1924 in Provost Alberta as the son of James L. (deceased) and Flossie May McCafferty, of New Albany, Annapolis Co., Nova Scotia.
He was a labourer on a sawmill and member of the United Church of Canada.
He enlisted on August 1 1942 in Edmonton and he went on December 5 1944 overseas to the UK and he went thereafter on February 17 1945 to NW Europe.
Lawrence was killed in action on Wednesday March 28 age 20 in the B Coy near Emmerich Germany during the battle of the Rhineland and he was temporarily buried in Vrasselt Germany and he was then on February 13 1946 reburied in Groesbeek.

Leo was born on April 1 1920 in Moncton New Brunswick as the son of Patrick and Mary (French and deceased) Dupuis. They were married on May 28 1914. His brothers were Andre (also in the army), Clifford (deceased in 1931) and Docility Dupuis (army overseas too). And his sisters were Angeline Dupuis, Mrs. Dorothy Boucher nee Dupuis and Dacite Dupuis. And another family member was Vital LeBlanc.
He was a labourer and member of the Roman Catholic Church and he spoke English and French.
He enlisted on November 12 1940 in Moncton and he went on August 19 1941 overseas to the UK and he went thereafter on June 6 1944 to France for the D-Day landing. He was seriously wounded in action on February 17 1945.
Leo died of these wounds on Sunday February 18 age 24 at the Moyland Wood during the battle of the Rhineland. And he was temporarily buried near Mariënbosch in Nijmegen and he was then on September 28 1945 reburied in Groesbeek.

Leonard was born on February 16 1914 in Cupar, Saskatchewan as the son of William Gawn Davidson and Margaret ( N Ireland) Harper. They were married on February 27 1907 in Belfast N Ireland. His brothers were Robert George, Lloyd David, Howard W., John D. (in the army overseas too) and Elmer R. Harper. His sister Dorothy May Harper died in 1913 age 2.
He was a metal worker and member of the United Church. He played hockey, baseball and basketball and enjoyed too golf, badminton, swimming and fishing and played piano. And he was president of the athletic club. His hobby was writing fiction and he liked to read books of science, philosophy and political economy. And he attended movies and dances.
He enlisted on June 17 1944 in Vancouver and he went on December 31 1944 overseas to the UK and he went thereafter on February 15 1945 to NW Europe.
Leonard died of wounds on Thursday March 29 age 31 in the A Coy near Emmerich Germany during the battle of the Rhineland. And he was temporarily buried in Bedburg Hau Germany and he was then on September 24 1945 reburied in Groesbeek.
His medals were: 1939-45 Star; France Germany Star; War Medal; CVSM & Clasp.
Max was born on July 21 1920 in Innes Saskatchewan as the son of Randolph James Brown and Bessie Leesley (separated & divorced), of Oto, Iowa, U.S.A.
He was a farmer and member of the United Church.
He enlisted on June 4 1943 in Regina Saskatchewan and he went on February 25 1944 overseas to the UK and he went thereafter as reinforcement on June 6 to France for the D-Day landing. He was wounded on July 8 near Cussy France and then taken to a hospital in the UK. He disembarked NW Europe again on October 10.
Max was killed in action on Friday February 9 1945 age 24 at the Waal Flats during the battle of the Rhineland. And he was temporarily buried at Jonkerbosch Cemetery in Nijmegen and he was then on July 26 1945 reburied in Groesbeek.

Mayeso was born on April 19 1919 in Maidstone Saskatchewan as the son of Allen (deceased in 1919) and Luvina (also deceased) Mayes nee Scott and both Americans. They were married in 1912 in Maidstone. His brother Carl Mayes was his next of kin and his sister was Tollia Mayes and his uncle was Ernie Grant. He filled in his soldier’s service book in for the nationality of his parents: negro.
He was a labourer farm hand and member of the Agnostic Church. His hobby was metal work. He liked baseball, rugby, fishing, hunting, swimming, shows, dancing and a little reading.
He enlisted on February 29 1944 in Calgary and he went on June 2 overseas to the UK and he went thereafter on July 14 to France.
Mayeso died of wounds in action on Tuesday February 9 1945 age 25 in the B Coy at the Waal flats during the battle of the Rhineland. And he was temporarily buried at Mariënbosch in Nijmegen and he was then on September 28 1945 reburied in Groesbeek.
